Here at Warren Orthodontics, our orthodontist can install traditional braces into your mouth to create a functional system capable of realigning your teeth. This process requires adjustment appointments where Dr. Casey Warren applies a modest amount of tension to the orthodontic components which will stretch the periodontal ligaments that anchor your teeth in your gums.

Over time braces gradually move your teeth increasingly closer to their ideal alignment. This will provide you with a more attractive smile as well as teeth that are less prone to chipped tooth enamel and denture fractures.

It’s important to note that tooth decay and other oral health problems could alter the tension in your braces and gum structures. This could potentially complicate the process and increase the amount of time it takes to fully correct the alignment of your teeth.

You will need to brush your teeth each morning and night and thoroughly floss at least once each day. At the same time, you might want to try using some special oral hygiene tools to help clean bacterial deposits from hard to reach places.

Interdental brushes are essentially miniature toothbrushes with small, tapered heads. They can help remove food material from some of the hard to reach areas around your braces hardware. They can be very helpful for releasing small food particles from bands and spacers on your back teeth.

A floss threader loaded with waxed dental might also help insert the strand of floss underwires. This can allow you to effectively clean away plaque and food particles from between teeth and gumline.
